Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-02
Equinoia is a local, offline-first application for collecting and organizing visual references. This policy explains what data Equinoia handles and, more importantly, what it does not do with it.
1. Your library stays on your computer
Equinoia works locally. Your libraries, files, thumbnails and settings are stored on your own computer, in folders you choose. We do not have access to them, do not upload them anywhere, and do not collect analytics or usage statistics about how you use the application.
2. When Equinoia contacts the network
Equinoia makes network requests only in these cases, and never to collect personal data about you:
- Update checks: the application periodically checks https://equinoia.com/updates/latest.json to see if a newer version is available. This request does not include any personal or library information, only a simple check for the current version. You can turn off automatic checks in Settings.
- Saving from the web: when you save an image, video or page link (through the browser extension or the "Save" feature), the application downloads that file or page directly from the website you chose. This is a request to that website, not to us.
- License activation: license keys are verified entirely offline, on your computer. No license or purchase information is ever sent over the network by the application.
3. Browser extension
The optional Equinoia Clipper browser extension sends the file, page address and title you choose to save to the Equinoia application running on your own computer (address 127.0.0.1). This data never leaves your computer through the extension. See the extension's own privacy policy for details.
4. Local logs
Equinoia writes a local log file (errors, warnings) to help you diagnose problems. This log stays on your computer in the application's data folder and is never sent to us automatically; you can open, review or delete it at any time.
5. Your control
You can delete your libraries, logs and settings at any time by removing the corresponding folders on your computer. Uninstalling Equinoia does not delete your library files unless you explicitly choose to.
6. This website
equinoia.com is a static website hosted on GitHub Pages. It does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security purposes; see GitHub's privacy statement for details.
7. Purchases
When you buy a license, payment is handled by our online reseller, which acts as the merchant of record and processes your name, email address, billing country and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive only what we need to send you your license key and to help you with your order (your name, email address and order details). We never see or store your full card details.
